ParaPower finally became a REAL website in 2005...whew! Watch this space for new additions and updates.
There will be errors and omissions until I can get this thing settled down, so bear with me. Note that I have added an Internet website/e-mail rumor checker to validate submissions first (Thanks, BJ!),
You might as well know that the "Huntin' Fishin'" & "Sika" pages (accessible from the ABOUT ME page) contain shots of animals harvested during various hunting seasons. As such, if you are squeamish, DON'T GO THERE!
Bear with me, settle back, and enjoy the browsing. Make sure to leave a note in our guestbook too, and thanks.

THE "COWPIE IN THE SKY" ACCESSIBLE STAND PROJECT...
|
11212011 1351
I was invited this year to the home of good friends who broached the idea of an accessible tree stand for
hunting. Always up for something, I was asked if I would try it if it were built. I said "absolutely".
On November 16, 2011, "absolutely" came to pass with what I lovingly call the "CowPie In The Sky"
accessible tree stand. The PieServer is the custom box you get on to be hoisted to the stand, the PieWalk
is the porch attached to the stand, and the PieBox is the stand itself (aka SkyPie). With so much dairy
cattle running around, I think you know where the name comes from.
As time passes, Lord willing, I plan on adding further escapes in the PieBox to this page so check back. In
the meantime, let's give some credit where credit is assuredly due.
Cowpie Compost. This is the family operated business of the Messick farm in Midland Virginia. Jimmy and
Ellen Messick invite you to see their operation and go away feeling you have purchased the finest product
of its kind in the Commonwealth (or anywhere else for that matter). That's Jimmy operating the big New
Holland.
See their website at http://www.cowpiecompost.com
Jon Messick: According to father Jimmy, Jon did most of the work. He had already built a similar stand and
thought that an accessible stand could flow from the idea. It worked great!
Steve & Yvonne McFarland: Another local couple who donated a truck cap for the roof (the way Jon did
his original...works just fine too). This significantly cut costs overall.
Words can't express my appreciation for all the thought and hard work these people have done. There is
nothing else like it in the area. Well done!
Because of it's newness, I have had to "engineer" a few terms for this thing (that probably only I
understand...c'est la vie). They are:
CowPie In The Sky: the unit as a whole
PieMover: that big New Holland..I nicknamed it "Deutz" as well after an elderly great-great uncle of mine...I
think....
PieServer: the box I load into that the PieServer delivers with. Built like a tank...
PieBox: the stand itself...Also known as "SkyPie"...
PieWalk: the front entry porch to the PieBox. Can also be rolled on and shot from. Great for archery...
PieHole (1&2): the window cutouts on either side of the PieBox...
PieHatch: the lower entry doorway for the less encumbered...
PiePerson: the assistant in the PieBox...
PieDie: a successful hit on a Bambette, Buckette, or Buck...
Bambette: any gal deer...
Buckette: any guy deer with buttons or pitiful l'il antlers...
Buck: if you don't know what this is, why are you hunting? Conversely, a 1-dollar bill...
Matilda: the Magic Mobility Frontier X5 power chair (with seat elevator) which I will use in the PieBox...
Slice o' pie: what we will probably eat in the PieBox, but it will be a baked item as opposed to the product
that Cowpie Compost offers... :o)
Check back for updates! Thanks again to everyone who built this. Man, what can I say???

The PieMover (opertaed by Jimmy Messick) moves the
big load in the PieServer...me! (carefully observed by Jon
Messick)
PieMover delivers PieServer to PieBox via
PieWalk...note the PiePerson...son-in-law Richard...
First pic I ever took from the PieBox. The faithful PieMover
