Earlier in 2012, a group of people in the area decided to do something for Mike Miller (aka "Moose") to help
him offset impending costs of Leukemia treatment. A dinner was originally planned and scheduled for August
11 2012 (the Fauquier Fairgrounds generously donated the facility for that date, and an organizational
meeting was held on June 6th. Things looked good. There was even a possible raffle mentioned for the
event to be held during th event.

Well, things got out of hand as members became ill, injured, or otherwise incapacitated. Recognizing that
Satan probably had other ideas about the dinner, a decision was made to halt the dinner but roll on and
expand the raffle. With items being donated in full or in part and costs offset by others, 1000 tickets were
offered at 5$ each. The idea was affordability with decent prizes. That goal was met.

Sales began in ernest on July 14 when the printed tickets were received, although the first 2 tickets were
already sold and prepaid (July 8th) with a $10.00 deposit making the JAMES MILLER FUND on 7/12/2012.

2 contributors came forward and enabled us to write off all expenses so every penny made on tickets sales
could be focused on Moose. Things started moving..

Final ticket sales were concluded on 9/1/2012 about 4:30PM and the paperwork was wrapped up. Tickets
were un-stapled and loaded into a bin from which volunteer Clara Reese drew from. Elsie and Tom Reese
watched the draw (Elsie held the tub for Clara), and volunteers Les and Lisa Byler watched the drawings. A
political pollster was canvassing the neighborhood and arrived at out door at that time, so we grabbed him
and made him watch too. He enjoyed it when he found out what was happening.

All winners were notified by phone and results posted on the web. Mike was called and asked to come to
FOTM Central which he did. He left with the results of the effort.

Our goal was $5000.00. Unfortunately, 30 tickets were not turned back in time to draw, but...none of those
tickets had been sold (verified 9/1/2012) so we honored out commitment to draw on 9/1/2012 at 6PM.
