ParaPower finally became a REAL website in 2005...whew! Watch this space for new additions and updates.

There will be errors and omissions until I can get this thing settled down, so bear with me. Note that I have added an
Internet website/e-mail
rumor checker to validate submissions first (Thanks, BJ!),

You might as well know that the "Huntin' Fishin'" & "Sika" pages (
accessible from the ABOUT ME page) contain shots
of animals harvested during various hunting seasons. As such, if you are squeamish,
DON'T GO THERE!

Bear with me, settle back, and enjoy the browsing. Make sure to leave a note in our guestbook too, and thanks.

HUNTIN' N' SUCH...
I am NOT a cunsummate hunter. I have fun...period...whether I harvest or not (of course, I'd rather harvest...). Here are some of the things I have
been doing over time. I photog my hunting as much as possible, but my love for it is greater than any pictorial history could show.
7/2010 Getting the ol' 300 ready for the season with a new holosight? First, the base adapters...but...I have decided not to
get one this season up front. I wil stick to my old Simmons 3-dot and then mount my TruGlo from my revolver on my Barnett (
same
size and config, just 1 dot
) and see how it "fits" first. If it goes well, here comes TruGlo. If not, nothing lost.

                                                      LASER SIGHTING WITH HOMEMADE RIG

Yes, I finally took the plunge, sacrificed 1 Easton XX75 2219 (yes, I am still using aluminum...), bored it out, and inserted my firearm
boresighter. I think it will work. I saw a commercial version here (
AIMSHOT ARCHERY SIGHTER  ).

Anyway, I used a 13/64 drill bit (
after reaming the bore out with smaller versions first) as the final cutter. Using a Gorilla Grip helped
hold the arrow a little more securely, but a good leather glove does as good or better if you have the grip.

The test fit proved the laser sighter fit snugly in place, but in the event it jars loose, I will be adding a small bit of tape to it so it sticks
better to the arrow barrel. No big deal.

I have yet to test it out on paper with a real broadhead, but I can't see why it should fail. Stay tuned...
7/2010 Blackpowder season will be here quickly too. The TC is ready to sight in after an optics switch.
                                                         VIRGINIA'S CROSSBOW LAW

January 24, 1994
Delegate Bob Marshall (Prince William County) sets forth HB1103 which became the first crossbow
legislation which passed in Virginia allowing disabled hunters to use a crossbow.

January 26, 1998   Delegate Jay Katzen (Fauquier County), after many attempts to improve the original 1994 bill, finally
succeeds in getting HB1091 adopted. This bill continued the ideas of HB1103, but allowed disabled hunters to use their
crossbow at
ANY TIME "regular" bows were legal.

Later, Virginia would adopt crossbows for
ALL Virginia hunters.
This my personal gear I used at VaNWTF Wheelin' Sportmen events for the 2009-2010 season...
Completed sighting "system"...
Good ol' Easton!
Business end...
Bored out and ready...
Note the ring of aluminum on left side of laser shaft. This is how
far it sits in the arrow's barrel....
I can only assume there will be Triple-N's (Nattoring Nabobs of Negativism) will try and poof this idea as it is "not really archery" and
the crossbow it will be used on is "evil" and "really a gun". That's OK, 'cause this can be done wilh a traditional archery system as well;
even with compounds.

By the way, check out this new compound vertical bow sighting system...
ARCHERY LASER
09 21 2010   Quad 300 shot in at 20,30,40 yards. 2 shots each, no practice since last
year, no warmup. All broadheads all the time!
2010 11 23   I installed a TIMNEY trigger in my Remington 700 Sendero after it fired twice (dryfire, thank God!) when going from SAFE
to FIRE
. I had this trigger modified a few years ago by a competent gunsmith. It was set at about 2.5 pounds. It worked flawlessly till
early this year. After cleaning the rifle for storage, I test fired it with a SnapCap and it fired under the conditions above...twice.

Net research indicated that  piece of the puzzle may have been the alteration, or was it dirt? Either way, I was scared of it. I thoroughly
cleaned the trigger mechanism and it has not repeated the failure, but it was certainly stuck in my head.

After talking with a long-range benchrester, I went Timney and I'm glad it did. I shot the rifle in yesterday and the Timney was flawless.
It's crisp and sure, and the factory confirms they are set at 3 pounds. It will stay right there.

Take a look at what was in their packaging below. Timney, I am sold!
